The Great British Duck Race

The Great British Duck Race – Sunday August 31st 2008

Adopt a Duck in aid of Deafblind UK, with the chance of winning £10,000!

In 2007, Deafblind UK were part of this successful race and we are returning in 2008 with the mission to encourage as many supporters as possible to adopt a duck, have fun in this record breaking event, whilst also raising funds for the organisation. How fantastic would it be if a Deafblind Supporter was the winner of the top prize of £10,000!!

How do I take part?

It is just £2 to adopt a duck. This fee goes to registering and adopting your duck into the race. In addition to this, when registering your duck, you are given the opportunity to make a discretionary donation to Deafblind UK.

To register and adopt a duck, please click on the "Adopt a duck now" link below and you can adopt your duck online today:

The History

On August 31st 2008, at Moseley Lock on the River Thames, near Hampton Court, approximately 250,000 plastic ducks will be set free to race in a world record attempt, where the lucky owner of the adopted winning duck can win £10,000!

In 2007, the Singapore World Record was smashed, by racing 165,000 yellow plastic ducks down the River Thames and raised over £100,000 for 440 UK charities. For 2008 the challenge is to do it bigger and better. The target is to race a quarter of a million of our little yellow friends down the 1 kilometre race course! This will break the record already held, and prove to the rest of the duck racing world that Great Britain does it better!!!

Adopt a duck today. Be a record breaker and join in the fun!
