The launch of a new deafblind social group in Peterborough.
Deafblind UK has recently received funding from the Big Lottery Fund to develop a project called Community In Touch England which creates social groups for people who have a combined sight and hearing loss. The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of the National Lottery good cause funding across the UK. The Fund aims to enable others to make real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.
The launch of the social group took place at the National Centre for Deafblindness, Cygnet Road, Hampton, Peterborough, on Tuesday 31st January. The group itself will meet on Fridays between 1pm and 3pm at the same venue.
The launch was an opportunity for people who experience sight and hearing loss, those who are interested in volunteering and referral agencies to come along to find out what Deafblind UK social groups will be like.
If you have combined sight and hearing loss or you know someone who does, if you want to volunteer or are interested in referring people to the group please contact us. We are keen to hear your views on what you feel could make a group successful as well as telling you what we have planned.
