Deafblind Awareness 1 day course
The course content is designed to give candidates a basic understanding of deafblindness and of communication with people with a combined loss of sight and hearing.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course candidates will:
- Be able to identify the combinations of vision and hearing loss which might constitute deafblindness, and why/how many with a combined loss may not be recognised as deafblind
- Recognise the main categories of deafblindness, and understand their impact on access to information, and on communication and mobility needs
- Have an awareness of the main communication methods used by deafblind people
- Demonstrate an understanding of the main factors that might influence the communication methods used by different deafblind people
- Demonstrate an understanding of the applications of Deafblind Manual, Block, and clear speech communications methods
- Identify factors influencing effective communication

- Individual (at National Centre for Deafblindness, Peterborough) £105 per person
- Group (at your venue) £785 (max 16 people). Plus trainer’s travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses. Includes workbook and Deafblind UK certificate of attendance for each delegate.
